Did you ever wonder who turned on the stars at night?

Or turned off the sun when there was no light?

Do you remember those times where your bedroom was always lit?

And everything would fit.

Do you remember when you knew that mommy really loved you?

And Daddy was always in the shed?

And at 8 o’clock would tuck you in bed?

Do you remember when mom said prayers at night?

And you rarely saw Mom and Dad fight?

Or when you wake up arguing with siblings?

And when to bed, bickering about such little things.

Could you remember a day without girls?

A day without fears?

A day without tears?

Those days are fading too fast.

I vowed they’d always last.

I never found out who turned off the stars.

But I realize now, my horizon is still far.
